NEW TO THE VILLAGE

Welcome to Swalcliffe Village

Swalcliffe, is a small village in the north of Oxfordshire, England on the edge of the Cotswolds. It is one of several small villages (including Tadmarton and Broughton) on the B4035 road between Banbury and Shipston-on-Stour. The village has a parish church dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul, a pub (The Stag’s Head), several cottages and houses, and a large area of woodland and fields. There is also a boarding school, Swalcliffe Park School, for boys with special educational needs. Just to the north of the village lie the site of an Iron Age hill fort, Roman villa at Swalcliffe Lea (site only), and line of the old Roman Road now a bridleway.

Goods and Services

Each month, the Tadmarton and Swalcliffe magazine, the  “The Link”, will be hand delivered to your door. It covers all forthcoming events for the villages of Tadmarton and Swalcliffe. You will also find advertised a variety of goods and services which are available locally. So, if you need a cake maker, a magician for children’s parties, a plumber or electrician, or you want to find out about local facilities and events, this is the place to look.

The refuse collection day is on Tuesday on alternate weeks for general waste (green bin) one week, and recycling (blue bin) and compostable waste (brown in) the other week.

For information about local events and items of interest, see the notice board near the bus stop (outside the church).

Pubs

Our village pub is the The Stag’s Head which serves food most days except Tuesdays. The Stag’s Head hosts a Greek night on the last Saturday of every month. This is very popular and you will need to book in advance. There are pubs in most neighbouring villages, including Epwell, Tadmarton, Sibford Gower and Shutford.
